William Russell Parrent

William Russell Parrent, 98, of Fairfield passed away at 3:20AM on July 3, 2023, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville IN.  He was born in Jasper Township in Fairfield on June 27,1925 to William David and Naomi Marie (Pool) Parrent.  Russell was a WWII Navy Veteran and the last surviving crew member of LST 750.  He was a Tool and Die Maker at Airtex in the Research and Development Lab retiring in 1991 after 47 years. Russell was also the oldest living member of Northside Baptist Church in Fairfield.

Russell is survived by daughters- Sharon (Jim) Hoffee of Albion and Jeanne (Ron) Caudill of Prestonsburg KY; son- Tom (Susan) Parrent of Normal IL; grandchildren- Sarah (Yuan) Yao of Wakefield MA, Heidi (James) Taylor-Caudill of Calhoun KY, Jonathan (Kaitlin) Hoffee of Chicago IL, Lynsey (Justin) Bowe of Huntington WV, Lura Parrent, and Jill Parrent; one great grandchild (baby H) on the way; brother- Cecil (Freda) Parrent of Fairfield; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents (his mother passed when he was 3 years old), wife- Mary Parrent, brother- Lowell Parrent, two half-sisters- Pearl Powell and Doris Smith, and a special friend- Mildred Tickner.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Friday July 7, 2023, at Northside Baptist Church in Fairfield with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11AM until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Northside Baptist church and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home.
