Wayne Christopher Schell

Wayne Christopher Schell, 64, of Fairfield passed away at 1:45PM on Thursday February 19, 2026, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. He was employed at Champion Laboratories for thirty-five plus years. Wayne was born in East St. Louis on October 13, 1961, to Norman Lee Schell Sr and Mary Francis (Upton) Smith. He was an avid fisherman and loved bowling and was a part of the Champ Bowling League.

Wayne is survived by son- John (Martin) Schell of St Louis Mo; daughters- Debbie (Tim) Johnson of Fairfield and Jamie Schell of Mt Carmel IL; grandchildren- Justin, Elijah, Conner, Lily, Brendan, and Gage; sisters- Dianna Claro and Debbie Walker both of Fairfield; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, sister- Barbara Barnes and brother- Norman Schell Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Wednesday February 25, 2026, at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1PM until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home who is in charge of all the arrangements.
