Sharon Ann (Mikeman) Arthur

Sharon Ann Arthur, 78 of Fairfield went to be with her lord at 8 PM, Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Centralia, IL on September 21, 1944, to Rolla and Marie (Giddens) Mikeman, who resided in Hoodville at the time.  Sharon’s family moved to Fairfield when she was in the 4th grade.  She graduated from FCHS with the class of 1962.  Sharon married Bill Arthur on September 22, 1963, at the First Baptist Church in Cushing, OK.  They would have celebrated 60 years later this year.  Sharon and her husband co-owned and operated the Lighthouse Christian Bookstore in Fairfield from 1974 until 1990.  Sharon also worked in several clothing stores in Fairfield, including Williams and Williams US Clothing, Lester Steiner’s Men’s Clothing Store, Carnaby Square, and Pretty Woman.  Her first employment was in Wanda Dickey’s Wayne Co. Abstract Office and then she was an Avon Cosmetics Salesperson.  Sharon had been an active member of the Fairfield First Baptist Church since 1954, when she was 10 years old. 

Sharon is survived by her husband Bill of Fairfield, daughter Melissa (Ralph) Barbre, 2 stepchildren whom she loved as her own, Jana Marie Hill and William “ Bill” Arthur of Ventura, CA, 2 grandchildren- Corey Barbre of Roswell, GA, and Katelyn (Noah) West of Fairfield.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 sisters- Kathy and Monna Lou. 

Funeral services for Sharon Arthur will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, May 9th at the First Baptist Church in Fairfield, with visitation from 11 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in her honor may be made to the First Baptist Church of Fairfield or the Fairfield Public Library and will be accepted at the service or the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.
