Ruth Evelyn (Locke) Craig

Ruth E. Craig, 83 of Calhoun, IL passed away at 1:59 PM, Thursday, April 17, 2025, at her home.  Born on February 19, 1942, in Wayne County, IL to Dale and Vera (Garris) Locke, she married Marion Craig on March 19, 1960, in Hammond, IN.  Ruth was a homemaker and proficient seamstress, which included quilting, cross stitch, and crocheting.  Among her other talents were gardening and basket weaving.  Ruth loved being at the beach with family and gathering seashells.  Above all else her daughters and grandkids were her pride and joy. 

Ruth is survived by her husband of 65 years Marion Craig of Calhoun, 3 daughters- Sandra (Dan) English of Round Lake, IL, Regina (Jeff) Winter of Fairfield, and Marian Gay (Mike) Willis of Columbia, TN, 2 grandchildren- Eli Willis of Columbia, TN and Maggie Willis of Chicago, IL, 5 siblings- Charlotte (Jim) Dye, Mike Locke, and Darrell Gene Toombs all of Fairfield, Donna Wheeler of Mt. Vernon, IL, and L.D. (Bonnie) Locke of Wayne City, IL.  She was preceded in death by her parents- Dale Locke and Vera Toombs, stepmother Zelma Locke, and sister Linda Sue Dye.

Graveside services for Ruth Craig will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, April 22nd at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield, IL.  There will be no visitation, and everyone is asked to go directly to the cemetery.  Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield is handling arrangements.
