Ruby Jean (Mowen) Blasdel

Ruby Jean Blasdel, 98, of Wayne City, IL, passed away at 12:05am on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, IL. 

Ruby was born on May 14, 1927, in Central City, IL, to Robert and Vivian (Noler) Mowen. On July 31, 1948, she married the love of her life, Earl Blasdel, and they later made their home in Wayne City, IL. 

Ruby most enjoyed spending time with her family and working in her garden at home. She and her husband, Earl, owned and operated the Wayne City Manufacturing Dress Factory from 1962 to 1986. 

She is survived by her children Kitty (Fred) Mooney, Tom (Roxie) Blasdel, and John (Wendy) Blasdel all of Wayne City, IL, Don (Phyllis) Blasdel of Stonefort, IL, and Jerry (Brenda) Blasdel of Villa Ridge, MO, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren with one on the way, along with a special cousin Helen Uhls. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl Blasdel, her brother Robert Mowen, and her sister Wilma Rose. 

Funeral services for Ruby Blasdel will be held at 12pm on Saturday, February 14th, at the Orchardville Church in Orchardville, IL, with burial following in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL. Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service at the church.  Memorial donations can be made to the Orchardville Church building fund and will be accepted at the funeral service or at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
