Nicholas C. "Nick" Downen

Nick C. Downen, 27, of Wayne City, IL, passed away at 4:20am on Sunday, August 10, 2025, as a result of a motor vehicle accident. 

Nick was born on April 19, 1998, in Fairfield, IL, to Donny Downen and Reba (Thomason) Downen. 

Nick graduated in the class of 2016 from Wayne City High School and, had worked as a farmhand for Skillet Fork Farms in Wayne City. He loved his family, friends and his nieces and nephews very much. He loved spending time with his family having cookouts and other activities. He was fun to be around, loving, and had a bright smile for everyone. 

Survivors include his parents Donny (Whitley) Downen of Sims, Reba Downen of Fairfield, paternal grandmother Dolly (Michael) Romine of Sims, brothers Derrick (Shana) Downen of Fairfield and Darren (Siriah) Downen of Norris City, sisters Deanna (Kris) Loker of Keenes and Courtney (Mikey) Cline of Wayne City, his nieces Graceland Loker and Quorra Cline and his nephews Javen Loker, Phoenix Cline, Rhett J., and Elliott Downen. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Billie and Teresa Thomason, Sr. and his paternal grandfather Delmar Downen. 

Funeral services for Nick Downen will be at 11am on Friday, August 15th, at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield, with burial to follow in Baltimore Cemetery in Wayne City. Visitation will be from 4pm-7pm on Thursday, August 14th at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the Nick Downen Memorial Fund and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home or FNB bank in Wayne City.
