Linda L (Lawrence) Gillison

Linda L. (Lawrence) Gillison, 82, formerly of Fairfield, died on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL. She had been a teacher in Fairfield for over thirty years.

Linda was born on December 14, 1942, in Olney, IL, to Harold and Thelma Lawrence. On, May 27, 1961, she married her high school sweetheart, Don Gillison. They celebrated 61 years together in 2022.

A resident of Fairfield for more than 60 years, Linda enjoyed being active for many years with the Benedict’s Club, as well a number of bridge clubs with her long-time friends. She still had very fond memories of being a part of the Gourmet Club and still made their recipes for the family. She was proud of the years she taught and had wonderful memories of her students.

Since retirement, Linda moved to Springfield and kept busy with travels and spending time with her beloved granddaughters, but she still missed Fairfield and her lifelong friends.

Survivors include her son Tim Gillison of Springfield, daughter Heather Gillison of Chicago, and two granddaughters Isabelle Gillison and Evie Gillison.

He was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Don Gillison, and her parents Harold and Thelma Lawrence.

A graveside service will be held at a later date and organized through the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home. In memory of her cherished rescue dog Lucy and how much Linda admired the organization’s good works, memorial donations can be made to the Wayne County Humane Society.
