Jimmy Freeland

Jimmy Freeland, 49, of Sims passed away on Tuesday May 30, 2023, at his home.  He was born in Fairfield on September 11, 1973, to Carroll and Donna (Weedman) Freeland.

Jimmy earned a bachelor’s degree from SIU in Agriculture and spent most of his life farming and specialty crop growing and establishing Freeland’s Strawberries/Vegetable Stand in the mid 90’s.  He had previously owned and operated a semi.  Jimmy enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, and farm.  He was of Christian faith.

Jimmy is survived by his mother- Donna Freeland of Sims; Sisters- Tammy (Wayne) Thomason of Sims and LeAnn (John) Curry of Ft. Lauderdale FL.   He was preceded in death by his father- Carroll Freeland, grandparents- Herman and Edrie Freeland from Sims and Murrel and Marian Weedman of Fairfield.

Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home will be in charge of handling the cremation and no formal services will be scheduled.
