Harry L Fitzgerald

Harry L. Fitzgerald, 78, of Fairfield passed away at 2:16AM on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at SSM Health Good Samaritan in Mt Vernon IL.  He was born November 13, 1944, in Fairfield to John and Helen (Hudson) Fitzgerald.  Harry attended Fairfield Community High School and then joined the Marine Corp, where he served in Vietnam.  After returning home he worked at Airtex, then moved to Shelbyville IL to work for cable TV.  Harry was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved boating.

Harry is survived by daughter- Brittany (Steve) Washburn of Maryville IL; son- Harry Fitzgerald Jr of Fort Worth TX; sister- Pansie Markham of Fairfield; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, son- Brandon Miller, 5 brothers, and 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Anthony Wayne Post #176 American Legion and the Wayne County Post #4535 VFW.  Visitation will be from 1:30pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
