Evelyn Kay Rowark, 62, of Fairfield, IL. passed away at 5:45 AM Friday January 13th, 2023, at Aperion Care in Fairfield, IL. Kay was born February 6, 1960, in Washington, Missouri to Oral Jasper and Blanch E (Wheeler) Rowark.
Kay worked for many years as a cook at Bat’s Place in Fairfield and gained many lifelong friends during that time. She then worked as a cook for Way Fair for many years and worked her way to Dietary Manager. The residents there were her life, and she strived to make their time there as happy and as loved as possible. She is deeply loved and missed by her family, as her greatest loves were her children and grandchildren.
Kay is survived by her daughter Jessica Rowark of Fairfield, IL, her son Lucas Gifford of Evansville IN; two grandchildren Morgan Jace McGowan and Audrey Kate McGowan. Also surviving is her brother David (Mary) Rowark of Noble, IL.
Preceding her in death were the love of her life Dennis Ray Gifford, her parents, two brothers, Jackie Lynn Rowark of Olney and Franklin (Pat) Rowark of Wayne City and four sisters Marcella (Julius) Deifenbach of St. Louis, Linda (Charles) Ward of St. Louis, Margaret (Leon) Garrot Hartford, IN, and Janice Lynn Rowark of Fairfield.
Kay will be cremated and a memorial visitation celebrating her life will be held on Friday, January 20th from 5-7 PM at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield. Her ashes will be buried privately in Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date. Memorials in her honor may be made to help with funeral expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
