Dorothy Jean Quindry

Dorothy Jean Quindry, 97 of Fairfield passed away at 9:36 AM, Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Carmi Manor in Carmi, IL.  Born on January 18, 1925, in Peoria County, IL, the daughter and fourth child of Carl and Ethel (Boettge) Early, she married Gerald T. Quindry in Peoria on July 18, 1947.  He preceded her in death in 2003.  Dorothy was a charter member of the Fairfield Beautification Committee, a member of the Every Wednesday Club, and a member of the United Methodist Church.  She loved to travel and during her lifetime she had been to every state in the union, including many visits to Alaska.  She had traveled from Egypt to Japan, from Spain and Morocco, and many trips into Mexico.  Her last trip was to Costa Rica.  Her age and arthritis forced her to finally stay home. 

Mrs. Quindry is survived by her two sons, James of St. Louis, MO and Gerald of rural Wayne County, IL and 3 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Carl Early of Washington State, Robert Early lost at sea, Paul Early of Florida, David Early of Utah, and Gerald Early of Arizona. 

Dorothy will be cremated, and her ashes buried in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is handling cremation.
