Clarence "Gene" Hill

Clarence “Gene” Hill, 76, of Fairfield, died at 7:40am on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. He had been the owner and operator of Hill Sporting Goods in Fairfield. 

Gene was born on November 8, 1946, in Mt. Vernon, IL, to Randall and Valetta (Chalcraft) Hill. On June 15, 1968, he married the love of his life, Janet (Mauck) Hill. 

Survivors include his wife Janet of Fairfield, a son Jerry (Rachel) Hill of Mt. Vernon, IL, a daughter Julie (Jason) Musgrave of Fairfield, five grandchildren Dillon (JuLee) Curtner, Ali Curtner, Brendan Hill, Derek Hill, and Ryan Hill, along with two great grandchildren Lyla Curtner and Olivia Curtner. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Steve Hill. 

There will be a visitation for Gene Hill from 11am until 12:45pm on Friday, December 9th at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield. A graveside service will immediately follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Wayne County Humane Society and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home.
