Carl H Austin

Carl Howard Austin, age 90 of Wayne City passed away on Saturday December 10, 2022, at his home.  He was born on October 8, 1932, in Keenes Il to Roe and Lula (Linder) Austin.  Carl was united in marriage to Judith Kay (Jones) Austin on April 28, 1962- sharing 60 wedding anniversaries together.

Following graduation Carl worked at Airtex, then served two years in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Salzburg Austria.  Carl owned and operated Austin’s Lime Service.  He retired from Walmart in 2006.  Carl was of the Southern Baptist Faith and was a member of the Wayne City Baptist Church.

Carl is survived by his wife Judy of Wayne City; 3 children- Howard (Debbie) Austin of Wayne City, Susan (Kerry) Garner of Edwardsville, and Vicky Austin of Belleville; 3 grandchildren- Ethan Garner of Edwardsville, Jade (John) Dunham of Wayne City, and Wyatt Austin of Wayne City; sisters-in-law- Elsie Austin of Sims, Ellen Trotter of Peoria AZ, and Bess (Bud) Sikes of Glendale AZ; and two very special friends- Garry and Brenda Thomason of Mt Vernon IL.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers- Harold Austin, Jack Austin, and Gib Austin.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Thursday December 15, 2022, at the Wayne City Baptist Church with burial in Thomason Cemetery with military rites provided by Anthony Wayne Post #176 American Legion and the Wayne County Post #4535 VFW.  Visitation will be from 5-7PM on Wednesday December 14th at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Fisher House of St. Louis and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of all the arrangements.  Condolences can be made to the family at www.johnsonvaughn.com
