Alberta Mae (Ash) McNew

Alberta “Bertie” M. McNew, 74, of Fairfield, died at 4:34pm on Friday, May 3, 2024. She had been a CNA for over 30 years at Way-Fair/Aperion Care in Fairfield. 

Bertie was born on February 22, 1950, in Wayne County, IL, to George and Lillian (White) Ash. On November 2, 1992, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” McNew. 

Survivors include her husband Bill McNew and a sister Sharon Ash, both of Fairfield.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Jr. Ash and Delbert Ray Ash, and a sister Barbara Ann Ash. 

There will be no formal funeral services. A private burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield. The Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
