Veronica Cox

Veronica Cox, 64 of Fairfield, IL passed away at 6:46 AM, Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at her home. Veronica was born on October 30, 1961, in Juneau, AK to Ronnie Rains and Sandra (Busler) King. Veronica was employed for many years at Frontier Community College until she retired in June of 2018. A loving mother who cherished her family deeply, she had a gentle heart for animals and the beauty of nature. She found joy in the simple things- being surrounded by those she loved and appreciating the peacefulness of the outdoors. Her kindness, compassion, and love for both people and animals were a true reflection of who she was. She married Christopher Cox on July 15th, 2005, in Las Vegas, NV.

She is survived by her husband Christoper Cox, children- Britain Vaughn, Jessica (Joshua) Bertram, Jonathan (Natalie) Hampton, Abraham McMahan, and Stephanie Cox, multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings- Melanie Rains, Randall (Tara) Busler, Sarah King, Stephen Rains, Stephanie Rains Gibson, in-laws Janie (Gary) Lake, and Steve (Susan) Cox, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents- Ronnie Rains and Sandra King, and Revis and Shelby Buler

Funeral services for Veronica Cox will be held at 12 PM, Saturday, October 3rd at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home, with visitation from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.
