Newton A. Keen, 91 of Fairfield, passed from this life at 7:08 PM, Friday, August 15, 2025, at Cisne Health Care in Cisne, IL. Born on July 6, 1934, in Wayne County, IL to Charlie and Leota (Hampton) Keen, he was married to Dorothy Thomason for over 50 years. She preceded him in death. Also preceding him are his parents, and a brother-in-law Jim Thomason. Newton lived most of his life in the area. He worked in the oil fields and for a time at Roadmaster in Olney. Newton was a member of the North Side Pentecostal Church. Perhaps what he was most famous for was preaching on the street. He was a "street preacher" in front of Fairfield National Bank for many years.
He is survived by a brother-in-law, two sisters in laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services for Newton Keen will be held at Arrington Prairie (Dickeyville) Cemetery at 10 AM, Wednesday, August 20th. Friends and family should go directly to the cemetery. Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
