Melvin Morris Vaughn, 82, of Fairfield, IL passed away at 11:52 a.m. Friday September 20, 2024 at Wabash Senior Living and Rehabilitation after a long battle with dementia.

Melvin was a farmer for over 30 years.  He graduated Fairfield High School in 1960 and attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale where he taught welding.  Prior to farming, Melvin had many jobs including working construction and being a mechanic at Brown Chevrolet in Fairfield, IL.  Melvin loved fishing, barbecuing, gardening, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family and friends.

SERVICES PLANNED

Visitation is Tuesday September 24 from 10:00am to the time of the service at 12:00pm at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home with burial at Maple Hill Cemetery.

THE SURVIVORS

Melvin is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Fairfield, IL, whom he married in 1967; Daughter Valerie D. Vaughn of Charlotte, NC and Son Brandon M. (Karie) Vaughn of Streamwood, IL; Brother Eldo Vaughn of Fairfield and Sister Phyllis (Chuck) Neff of Wayne City, Brother-in-Law Doug (Charis) Musgrave of Fairfield, and several nieces and nephews.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents Ebert and Marie Vaughn, Sisters Shirley, Delores, and Betty, and Brother Robert.
