Harold E. Rush, 93, of Fairfield, passed away at 1:30pm on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Fairfield Senior Living and Rehabilitation.
He was born on April 21, 1933, in Raymond, IL, to Earl and Florence (Garrison) Rush. On January 13, 1954, he married the love of his life, Alice (Wood) Rush, who preceded him in death in 2013.
Harold retired after working 26 years for Peabody and Amax Coal companies, working his way up to a foreman. After retiring from the coal mines, he worked at Huck’s in Fairfield for over 19 years. Harold was also a veteran of the United States Navy during the time of the Korean conflict and attended the Fairfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his son Stan (Susan) Rush of North Richland Hills, TX, his daughters Dawn (Jack) Davis and Becky Brendal both of Fairfield, his grandchildren Micah (Nancy) Rush, Sarah (Jimmy) Rea, Danna (James) Patrick, Elizabeth (Justin) Sanders, Nathan Brendal, Jerad Brendal, and Kelsey Brendal (Tyson Lowe), ten great grandchildren, a brother Robert (Olene) Rush of Tomball, TX, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alice Rush, a stillborn daughter Dana Jo Rush, his siblings Curtis Rush and Ruth Louder, and a son-in-law Jan Brendal.
Funeral services for Harold Rush will be at 1pm on Wednesday, July 22nd, at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield, with burial to follow in Koontz Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to either the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Fairfield C.P. Church, or the Wayne County Senior Center and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
