Glenda Kay Allison, beloved wife, mother, Memaw, sister, and devoted follower of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026, at the age of 70.
Glenda was born on June 14, 1956, to Bill and Mary “Kathy” Barnfield. She grew up in Geff, Illinois, and later made her home in Mount Erie, Illinois, where she built a life centered around her faith, her family, and the people she loved.
Glenda loved her Lord deeply. Her faith was a source of strength throughout her life and became an increasingly important part of who she was. She wanted people to know how good God is and was never afraid to speak about her faith, her love for Jesus, and the hope she had in Him. To Glenda, her faith was meant to be shared. She wanted others to know the same hope and love of God that meant so much to her.
Glenda loved her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband, John, and was always quick to talk about how patient and good he had been to her. She was a loving mother and the proudest Memaw to her grandchildren, Allison and Luke. She talked about them often, bragged on them proudly, and cherished every moment she had with them.
Glenda was the kind of person who made sure you knew when she loved you. There was never much question about where you stood with her—when she loved you, you knew it. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was immensely proud of the people they were becoming.
She loved spending time outdoors at Allison Acres, where she could often be found doing the things that brought her joy. She loved mowing, planting flowers, working in the garden and simply enjoying the land she loved. Glenda was happiest outside.
Glenda is survived by her husband, John Allison; her daughter, Kelli Breuer, and son-in-law, Todd Breuer; her grandchildren, Allison Breuer and Luke Breuer; her step-daughter Sara Marie (Ben) Campbell; her sister, Karolee Vaughan; her brother, Barry Barnfield; and many extended family members and friends who were blessed to know and love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Mary “Kathy” Barnfield; her sister, Crystal McCann; and her beloved son, Adam Bircket.
For 32 years, Glenda carried a special longing in her heart to see Adam again. She looked forward to the day when she would be reunited with her son. Now that day has finally come. We find comfort knowing that she is home with Jesus, reunited with Adam and embraced once again by her parents.
A private family service will be held.
