Georgianna M. “Gigi” Ziel, 88, of Fairfield, formerly of Staten Island, NY, passed away at 1:39pm on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at her home.
Gigi was born on May 12, 1938, in Staten Island, NY, to George and Mary (Zielinski) Ziel. She had been a bookkeeper for a few Certified Public Accountants before her retirement.
After the passing of her parents, Gigi moved to Fairfield, IL to be near her sister, Faith Morse, and her nephews and nieces. During that time, she embraced her creativity in painting and crafting, winning a few awards, and also teaching others, including the Wednesday night kids group at the Jesus Name Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her daughters Darlene Crowl of Apopka, FL, and Dorene Lowenstein of Gold River, CA, her grandchildren Anthony Crowl, Eric Port, Brianna Lowenstein, and Jojo Lowenstein, her great grandchild Vivienne Crowl, her brother-in-law Robert Morse, Sr of Fairfield, her “favorite” nephew, chauffeur and caregiver Robert (Staci) Morse II of Fairfield, her niece Tabitha Morse of Mt. Vernon, IL, and nephews Jon (Kelli) Morse and David (Melanie) Morse both of Opelika, AL, along with her great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Dawn Port, her former husband and friend Myron Crowl, and her sister Faith Morse.
Funeral services for Georgianna Ziel will be at 11am on Friday, July 24th at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield. Her body will be cremated following the service, with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 5pm-7pm on Thursday, July 23rd at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to Feed My Sheep Soup Kitchen and will be accepted at the time of service or at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
