Earl A. Downen, 70, of Fairfield, died at 1:43pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. He had worked as a groundskeeper for a cemetery in New Haven, IL.

Earl was born on August 18, 1952, in Fairfield, IL, to James and Libbie (Cates) Downen.

Survivors include two daughters Sheila (Dan) Theobald of Waterloo, IL and Sheryl (Darren) Wolff of Salem, IL, three grandchildren, a brother Sammy (Crystal) Downen of Sims, IL, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Wilma Stark, and four stillborn brothers Vern, Charles, David, and Paul Downen.

Per Earl's request, his body has been cremated with no formal services or burial at this time. Memorial donations can be made to the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home to assist with cremation expenses.
