Dorothy Scott, 86 of Fairfield, passed away at 11:20 AM, Thursday, September 19, 2024, at her home.  Born on July 16, 1938, in Sims, IL to Thomas Walter and Esther (Alexander) Richardson, she had been a cook at Johnsonville Grade School and Cisne Rehabilitation.  Dorothy was a longtime member of Oak Valley Church and dearly loved her family, cooking, and quilting.

Her survivors include a son Bruce (Val) Scott of Geff, daughters Penny Lane of Evansville, IN, Cindy (Randy) Ellis of Fairfield, and Jennifer Scott of Mattoon, IL, 6 grandchildren- Stephanie (Chris) Jenkins, Stephen (Jami) Ellis, Scott Lane, Sarah Lane, Kyle Ellis, and Katie Scott, 4 great grandchildren, brothers Walter Richardson of Cisne and James Richardson of Henderson, KY, and a sister Rosalee Vaughn of Mt. Vernon.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herman "Pood" Scott, son Terry Scott, brother Phillip Richardson, sisters Imogene Thomason, Janet Pressy, and Sarah Kidd, and son in law Todd Lane.

Funeral services for Dorothy Scott will be held at 2 PM, Monday, September 23rd at the Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel in Wayne City, with burial to follow in Thomason Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 12 PM until the time of service at the chapel.  In lieu of flowers memorials in her honor may be made to the Fairfield Park District for the purchase of a duck food dispenser and will be accepted at the service or the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.
