Maple Hill Cemetery,
Deloris Maxine Sheraden, 96, entered peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
Deloris was born on November 20, 1929, to Willis and Melba (Allison) Schofield at her home southwest of Geff, IL. Deloris’ life was defined and guided by her deep faith in Jesus. Shortly after high school, during a revival, she gave her life to the Lord and was baptized in the lake at Lakeside Park in Fairfield. Deloris was a faithful follower of Christ for over 75 years.
On June 6, 1964, she married the love of her life, Donald E. Sheraden. Together they raised Don’s two sons, Bruce and Bud, and built a loving, Christ-centered home. They enjoyed 38 years together before Don’s passing in 2003. Don and Deloris enjoyed serving their church together, camping, visiting Don’s sister, Edna, in Texas, and spending time with their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephew.
Deloris worked for Wayne County Bank, now Peoples National Bank, in Fairfield for 27 years. Above all else, Deloris loved God, her family and her church. Her godly example leaves a lasting impact on her family and those who knew her.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Jesop; sons Bruce (Liz) Sheraden, and Bud (Cynthia) Sheraden; Grandchildren, Adam (Katie) Sheraden, Amy Sheraden, and Jason (Kelli) Sheraden; Great Grandchildren, Wesley, Owen, Lucas and Hadley Sheraden; Niece Brenda Stephens, Nephew Brad (Irma) Jesop, Grandniece Lindsay (Jonah) Kinsolving; Great Grandnephews Kohen, Rowan, and Graham Kinsolving; Great grandniece, Kacie Kinsolving; and special caregiver and friend, Kim Young.
Deloris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don; infant sister, Lola; parents, Melba and Willis Schofield; and daughter-in-law, Sandy Sheraden.
Her family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Fairfield Memorial Hospital Skilled Care Unit for their loving care and support.
A celebration of Deloris’ life will be held at North Side Baptist Church in Fairfield, IL at 12:00pm on Monday, November 2nd, with a graveside service immediately following at Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund for North Side Baptist Church of Fairfield. Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences can be made to the family at www.facebook.com/johnsonvaughnfuneralhome.
