Obituary

Deborah Luann (Kunce) Hoskins of Evansville, IN went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN.

Deborah was born April 10, 1960, in Fairfield, IL to James and Carmon (Skinner) Kunce. She grew up in Fairfield, spending much of her time helping out with her parents' farm and exploring the woods around their property with her siblings. She has certainly extended her love of nature to her nieces and nephews and children.

She worked many years as an accountant between balancing her busy life being a loving mother and devoted wife. Deborah loved watching movies, spending her time at home always looking for her favorite Westerns. She was a fantastic cook and an even better baker. She gardened, building a vegetable garden and taking care of numerous plants indoors as well. She took up sewing as a child and continued her work throughout her life, always there to mend a beloved item or create something new.

Most importantly, Deborah was a faithful Christian, assisting with programs within her church community. She actively served in the nursery at First Southern Baptist Church for as long as she was able.

Deborah is preceded in death by her parents and her older brother Rodney.

She is survived by her husband Alan of Evansville, IN; her children Samantha (KD) Smith of Fairfield, IL and Sydney of Evansville, IN; her siblings Beth (Tom) Meeks, Jill (Mike) Short, and David Kunce all of Fairfield, IL; and her granddaughter Carmon Smith of Fairfield, IL.

A visitation will be held Monday, June 30, 2025, at Johnson-Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield, IL from 5-7pm.

A second visitation will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at First Southern Baptist Church in Evansville, IN from 5-7pm.

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at First Southern Baptist Church in Evansville, IN. She will then be laid to rest at Powell Cemetery in Norris City, IL.
