Charles K. Thomas, 79, formerly of Fairfield and Flora, passed away at 4:45PM on Tuesday December 24, 2024, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham. He was born in Mt Erie on December 13, 1945 to Charles Dewey and Iva Alene (Riggs) Thomas. Charley loved being with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing music for over 50 years with various bands, the last few years, Charley played at the opry in Edgewood IL. He was employed as a roofer.

Charley is survived by daughters- Tina (Jim) Tolliver of Dietrich and Lisa Thomas of Romeoville; son- Blake Thomas of Carbondale; grandchildren- Matt (Brittany) Tolliver of Rinard and Karissa Tolliver of Dietrich; great grandchildren- Reed Tolliver and Ryker Tolliver; special friends- Marion Wallace of Tennessee and Terry and Connie Smith of Fairfield.

Charley was preceded in death by his parents, brother- William Lowell Thomas, sisters- Norma Jean Thomas, Dorothy Thomas, and Martha Moyer, two nephews- Danny Thomas, and William Lowell Thomas Jr., and his former wife- Nancy Solomon Thomas.

Visitation will be held from 4-6PM on Monday December 30, 2024, at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield. After visitation, Charley's body will be cremated with burial of his ashes at a later date.

Memorials may be made to help with funeral expenses and will be accepted at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home.
