Carroll Edward Strange, 88 of Fairfield passed away at 6:55 PM, Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.  Born on October 4, 1934, in Flora, IL to Delbert and Wilma Gladys (Yates) Strange, he loved animals and was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed following his kids and grandkids sports.  Carroll was well known for working in oilfield services, starting at Fluid Pack Pump in Clay City before moving to Fairfield in 1960 where he continued to work for them until 1983.  He then started Strange Pump Services in Fairfield with his sons Mark and Doug where he worked until his retirement in 2004.  Carroll was also a longtime member of the Fairfield Elks Lodge.

Carroll is survived by sons Mark (Maria) Strange of Flora, IL, Scott Strange of Riverview, FL, and Doug (Beth) Strange of Fairfield, stepsons Randy Green of Harrisburg, IL and Roger Green of Burnt Prairie, IL, 5 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 10 step great grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances Sue Strange, son Bradley Strange, stepdaughter Susan Gieselman, and great granddaughter Raelynn Strange.

Carroll will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, March 4th, 2023, at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home.  His ashes will be buried in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Memorials in his honor may be made to the 1st Christian Church or Shriners Children's Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
